An Evite alternative for sending invitations on WhatsApp
If your guests use WhatsApp, Avently sends each of them the invitation as a WhatsApp message, by name, with Yes and No buttons, and writes every answer to your guest list. If your guests are mostly in the US, stay with Evite: Evite sends text invitations to US and Canadian numbers, and Avently invitations do not reach US numbers at all.

What Evite does, from its own help pages
Evite is a digital invitation service. Every Evite invitation is sent by email, text or shareable link, and there is no printed option (Evite Help Center).
- Text invitations go to US and Canadian numbers only, from a short code. For guests elsewhere, Evite suggests email or the shareable link (Evite Help Center).
- The shareable link can be sent anywhere: text, social media, personal email. Guests who use it do not appear on your guest list until after they RSVP (Evite Help Center).
- Reminders are scheduled by default two days before the event, or two days before the RSVP deadline if you set one. They go to every invited guest except those who said Not Attending, and you can schedule up to five (Evite Help Center).
- Messages to guests can be filtered by RSVP status, including only the guests who have not responded yet (Evite Help Center).
Free and Premium on Evite
Evite designs labelled Free cost nothing to send unless you add a Premium upgrade. Designs labelled Premium always have a charge, based on your guest list size. Adding envelopes, stamps, stickers or ad removal to a free design also brings a charge (Evite Help Center). Evite describes its Premium experiences as advertisement-free, with a matching envelope, stamps and extra photo and text cards (Evite).
At the time of writing, Evite lists Premium packages from $17.99 for up to 12 guests to $99.99 for up to 750, and an annual Evite Pro subscription at $249.99 for up to 2,500 guests per invitation (Evite Help Center).
Avently charges per invitation sent instead of per design: the first 25 invitations each month are free, then you pay for each one. The rates are on the pricing page.
Evite, Paperless Post, Partiful, Google Forms and Avently compared
The same seven questions for each, answered from each product’s own help and pricing pages as of 8 October 2026. If most of your guests have US numbers, any of the first four will reach them and Avently will not.

Who should stay with Evite
- Hosts with mostly US guests. Avently invitations and reminders do not reach US phone numbers. Meta does not deliver that category of message to them. Evite reaches US guests by email, text or link.
- Hosts who want a designed card.Evite’s Premium tier adds animated effects and reveals, envelopes, stamps and stickers, and double-sided invitations (Evite Help Center). Avently sends a message with an optional picture card, not a designed card.
- Guest lists that live in email. If you have email addresses and not phone numbers, an emailed invitation is the direct route.
- Very large events.Avently handles up to 250 guests per event. Evite’s packages go well beyond that.
The other events Avently doesn’t suit, and what to use for each, are in when Avently isn’t the right tool.
Who a WhatsApp-first approach suits
- Guests who talk to you on WhatsApp. Families, friends, clubs and community groups that already plan things in WhatsApp chats. The invitation arrives as a message from the same app, not as a link in an email.
- Guest lists in Canada and abroad. Canadian numbers work, and so do most other countries. That includes relatives overseas, whom Evite reaches by email or link rather than by text.
- Hosts who need a firm headcount. Every guest is on your list with a phone number, so each answer belongs to a named guest, and the guests who have not replied are the ones left without an answer.
- Events with a few questions after the yes. Dietary needs, seats, arrival time. Guests answer them in the chat, with buttons where the answer is one of a few options. Our guide to interactive WhatsApp invitations shows what those look like.
What changes for your guests
With Evite, a guest opens the invitation from an email, a text or a link, and answers there. With Avently, the invitation is a WhatsApp message with the guest’s name, the event name and date, and Yes and No buttons. Guests who say yes get a link to a mobile event page with the cover image, date and time, the venue with a maps link, the dress code and add-to-calendar buttons.
Guests who tap Yes get your follow-up questions in the same chat. Guests who tap No are thanked and asked nothing more. A typed “yes” or “sure” counts, and a guest who changes their mind replies CHANGE to answer again. A STOP button lets any guest opt out of further messages.
On your side, the difference is where the answers collect. Evite lets you track RSVPs and manage the guest list on its website and in its mobile app (Evite). Avently writes each answer to a guest list in your own Google Drive as it arrives, one row per guest, and shows the answers on a live dashboard. You can share that guest list with a co-host or send it to the caterer like any other file in your Drive.
Before you switch
- Check where your guests’ numbers are. Sort your list by country code. If a large share start with +1 and are in the US, those guests will not receive an Avently invitation.
- Collect numbers in international format. Include the country code, so +1 for Canada, +44 for the UK, +91 for India.
- Keep the wording short. A WhatsApp invitation reads like a message, not a card. Say what, when and where, and ask for a reply by a date. Our guide on how to politely ask guests to RSVP has examples.
How this works in Avently
- Step 01
You build the event
Enter the event name, date, venue and organiser in the web wizard. Upload an image if you have one, and it arrives as a picture card at the top of the invitation.
- Step 02
You add your guest list
Your guest list lives in your own Google Drive. Avently can create it, or you connect one you already have. Up to 250 guests per event.
- Step 03
Each guest gets their own invitation
Avently sends every guest a WhatsApp message by name, with Yes, No and STOP buttons. The yeses get your follow-up questions; the noes get a thank-you.
- Step 04
You follow the answers and remind the rest
Answers land in your guest list as they arrive and show on a live dashboard. You send reminders from the dashboard to the guests who have not answered, at most two per guest.

Common questions
Is there an Evite alternative that sends invitations on WhatsApp?
Yes. Avently sends each guest a WhatsApp message addressed to them by name, with the event name and date and Yes and No buttons. Guests who say yes get a link to an event page. Answers are written to your guest list as they arrive. Avently invitations do not reach US phone numbers, so it suits guest lists outside the US.
Can you send an Evite invitation on WhatsApp?
You can paste an Evite shareable link into a WhatsApp chat. Evite describes the shareable link as one you can send anywhere, and guests use it to view the invitation and RSVP. Guests who arrive through the link do not appear on your Evite guest list until after they RSVP.
Does Evite work for guests outside the US?
Evite’s text invitations are supported for US and Canadian phone numbers only. For guests in other countries, Evite suggests inviting them by email or sending them the shareable link instead.
Is Evite free?
Evite designs labelled Free cost nothing to send unless you add a Premium upgrade, such as envelopes, stamps or ad removal. Designs labelled Premium always have a charge, based on the size of your guest list. Evite says its Premium invitations are advertisement-free.
Can Avently send invitations to US phone numbers?
No. Meta does not deliver the message category Avently uses for invitations and reminders to US numbers. If most of your guests have US numbers, Evite, email or text messages will reach them and Avently will not. Canadian numbers and most other countries work.
Can I remind only the guests who have not replied?
In Avently, yes: you send reminders from the dashboard, they go only to guests who have not answered, and each guest gets at most two. Evite also lets a host message only the guests who have not responded, and its scheduled reminders go to everyone except guests who said Not Attending.
If your guests use WhatsApp and are outside the US, Avently sends each of them your invitation by name, collects the answers in your guest list, and reminds only the guests who have not replied.
