What you can send free
- The first 50 invitations. With the free feature set, the first 50 invitations sent by email or phone number through Paperless Post need no purchase (pricing). After that, its help centre says each extra guest costs a Coin (help centre).
- A flyer you design yourself. A Flyer you design from scratch is free to send to up to 50 guests, and free invitations carry no ads (free invitations).
- A free design shared by link.Sending a free invitation’s Shareable Link is unlimited. A paid design’s link is charged by the number of RSVPs you expect (Shareable Link).
Free keeps RSVP tracking and messages to guests. To stay free, a card has to drop paid touches such as envelopes, logos and stamps (Paperless Post).
What paid invitations cost
Paperless Post prices each design in Coins per guest, and the price per guest falls as the list grows. At its default of 50 guests, the pricing page shows (pricing):
- Basic: $0.50 USD a guest, $25 for 50.
- Premium: $1.05 USD a guest, $52.50 for 50. A Premium design takes 5 Coins a guest.
- All Access: $1.44 USD a guest, $72 for 50.
Premium adds envelopes, backdrops, photo galleries and travel and accommodation blocks. Custom web addresses, passwords, guest tags and door check-in need All Access or the yearly Paperless Pro plan (features), which starts at $250 USD a year for 250 guests (pricing).
How Coins work
You buy Coins to cover your guest list. The pricing page’s own example: a design that needs 5 Coins a guest, sent to 40 guests, needs 200 Coins (pricing). Three rules are worth knowing before you buy.
- Coins you buy don’t expire, and leftovers carry over to your next event.
- Free Coins that Paperless Post gives you expire a year after you get them (terms).
- Coins aren’t refundable, used or not (terms).
Paperless Post charges in US dollars or in the currency shown at checkout for your location (terms), and we found no Canadian-dollar prices. From Canada, budget in US dollars.
How invitations reach guests, and how they reply
Paperless Post sends by email, by text to US and Canadian numbers only, or as a link you share yourself (features). For a WhatsApp chat, you paste the link. Guests answer on the invitation’s web page and don’t need an account (terms).
RSVP reminders are yours to send, from Messages & Reminders, and you can schedule them ahead (Paperless Post). They cost nothing extra (pricing). What to write in one is in RSVP reminder message examples.
When Paperless Post is worth paying for
- You want a designed card, with an envelope and a reveal, not a message.
- Your guest list is mostly email addresses.
- Many guests have US numbers. Its texts reach them, and WhatsApp invitations don’t.
If your guests live in WhatsApp and you mainly need a headcount, you are paying for design you may not use.

How this works in Avently
- Step 01
Each guest gets a WhatsApp message
Avently sends every guest a WhatsApp message addressed to them by name, with your event name and date, and Yes and No buttons. Guests need WhatsApp, not an account.
- Step 02
You pay per invitation, in Canadian dollars
The first 25 invitations each month are free. After that you pay per invitation sent, and no single event costs more than $99.
- Step 03
Reminders go only to guests who have not answered
Every answer lands in your guest list as it arrives, and you remind the guests still to reply, at most twice.
